Mekalaone is provided to schools, tuition institutes and their staff, students and parents for school administration and the delivery of online classes. By using the platform, an institute agrees to keep its account credentials secure and to use the platform only for legitimate educational and administrative purposes.
The Tutor and School plans are billed monthly or annually, either at a flat rate or a per-student rate as agreed at signup. Fees are due in advance of each billing period. The Network plan is billed under a separate agreement for multi-branch institutes.
Live online classes are hosted on Zoom or Microsoft Teams using the institute's or tutor's own account. Zoom and Microsoft Teams licences are not included in any Mekalaone plan and must be purchased separately from Zoom or Microsoft. Their use is subject to Zoom's and Microsoft's own terms.
Publishing class listings on the Mekalaone marketplace is free for the first six (6) months. After that period, each active listing is charged a listing fee of Rs. 3,500 per month (US$12 per month for customers outside Sri Lanka).
From 1 January 2028, a platform fee of 20% applies to class fees paid by external students — students who join a class through the Mekalaone marketplace or a Mekalaone invite link rather than being enrolled by the institute itself.
Prices are shown in Sri Lankan rupees (LKR) for customers in Sri Lanka and in US dollars (USD) for customers elsewhere. You are charged in the currency shown at checkout, and any refund is paid in the same currency. Payment in other local currencies is planned.
Fee collection and online-class checkout are processed through PayHere and PayPal. Use of those payment methods is also subject to PayHere's and PayPal's own terms of service.
Schools and tutors retain ownership of the academic content, homework, and class recordings they create on the platform. Mekalaone stores and encrypts this content on their behalf and does not claim ownership of it.
Mekalaone is monitored continuously and we work to keep it available at all times. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where possible, and current service health is published on our Status page. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
An institute may cancel its subscription at any time; data export is available before an account is closed. Mekalaone may suspend an account for non-payment or for use that violates these terms.
Questions about these terms can be sent through the Support Centre or Contact Sales page.
